Jacques Junior Baril

 

13177602_10154156472717311_8557380169108924011_nJacques Junior Baril, born 23 September 1980 is the Ambassador of the Republic of Haiti in the Republic of South Africa since September 2015. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Baril is also a former businessman, who worked in the telecom sector as well as the music industry. At the age of thirteen he moved to Montreal Canada with his father Jacques Baril, where he went to Saint-Luc high school. He then went on to do his tertiary studies at different universities in Montreal Canada. In 1999 he moved to South Africa for an exchange art program with a non-profitable organisation called Open City Production. With the organisation, Jacques Baril worked on the March 21 project; international day of elimination of racial discrimination, launched by Nelson Mandela. Jacques Baril then went on taking part in humanitarian work both in Haiti and in South Africa.

Early life

 Baril was born in Port-au-Prince, son of Jacques Baril and Madeleine Rimpel Charles. After his first year of high school at the institution of Soeur Marie Lucienne, Jacques moved to Montreal Canada with his father, where he graduated at Saint-Luc high school. At the age of 17, he launched a project funded by government, with the schools in Montreal. Baril used his love for Music to do events and seminars against Racism. He then was nominated for the youth and humanitarian award, organised by Youth TV in Canada.

Through an exchange program, Baril moved to South Africa where he took part in an internship and work on the 21 March 2001 celebration against Racism. At the age of 21, Baril married Magalie Yav, the young couple moved back to Montreal. Six years later Jacques Junior Baril got divorced and has never remarried ever since.

Music Career

 At the age of 16, Baril joined a music band where he mastered his music skills. He participated in talent shows and tours from school to school. Years later he worked with different musical groups. When he moved back to Canada from South Africa in 2003 Baril worked for a bank and quick in 2005 to launch his production label 3J production. Baril produced artists such as Guadeloupian singer Thierry Cham, managed Haitian singer Nickenson Prud’homme and many more.

 

Political Career

In 1999 Jacques Junior Baril started a foundation called 3G foundation, which is based on feeding the homeless and assisting unprivileged children. The foundation started its operation in Soweto, South Africa. Every year Baril assists at least 100 children in Haiti by supplying school tools such as bags and uniforms. Late 2013 Baril became a roaming Ambassador at large, travelling around the world seeking corporation and investors for Haiti. In 2015 he became the ambassador of the Republic of Haiti in the Republic of South Africa.
